I had an accident in a parking lot in North Carolina.

I was driving a moped, which doesn't require an insurance nor a driver's license nor registration (the officer agreed to that).

A car hit me while I cut her access perpendicularly. No yield no stop sign since it's a parking lot.

The officer didn't give any ticket.

The car had a dent on the hood (from my knee) and the insurance is now asking me to pay 6 times the market price of a hood.

I read in the forum that usually those cases are resolved between insurances, and since i don't have one, I don't know what to do to avoid paying the big price.

Thank you in advance

    • By not having insurance, you are not responsible in addressing the situation. Why do you think it's 6x the "market price"? Have you reviewed the insurance companies apprasial? Have you checked the price of the hood with a local supplier?

What is that supposed to mean?

You can ask the insurance company to provide their estimate for repairs, which should explain the cost. Note that the price of a replacement hood, of itself, does not include the cost of paint or labor.
